Welcome to Christ Church C of E Secondary Academy, an 11-19 state-funded Church of England school which has been approved by the Department for Education to enter the pre-opening phase.
The school now plans to open in September 2020 in the parish of Yardley Wood within the Billesley Ward of Birmingham. The precise location of the school is yet to be confirmed and a provisional opening date will be confirmed once a suitable site has been secured in agreement with the Department for Education.
Up to 180 students will be admitted to Year 7 each year and Christ Church C of E Secondary Academy will eventually accommodate 900 students plus a sixth form.
Christ Church C of E Secondary Academy will be operated by the Birmingham Diocesan Academies Trust which is being established by Birmingham Diocesan Board of Education and will build on the Church of England in Birmingham’s reputation for excellence in educational outcomes.
Each of our students will be offered the very best possible educational experience within a supportive and inclusive Christian ethos. The curriculum offer will be broad and balanced and a longer school day will incorporate a varied programme of enrichment activities including a supportive homework club. We will equip our students with the experiences, personal attributes, academic and vocational qualifications to enable them to succeed in the next stage of their education or employment. Our strong links with major local employers will increase students’ employability and readiness for work.
Christ Church C of E Secondary Academy will provide a state-of-the-art learning hub serving the community, helping to meet the increasingly acute need for additional high-quality secondary places and giving families more choice. We are proud of our Christian foundation and have close links to our Parish in Yardley Wood. A school Chaplain will provide guidance to staff and students who wish to receive it, regardless of faith. We will welcome children of all abilities, from all backgrounds, of all faiths and none and will operate an open admissions policy with no faith-based oversubscription criteria.
