Specification: The BTEC Level 2 Health and Social Care qualification provides students with a strong foundation in understanding the health and social care sector, focusing on the development of practical and theoretical skills that prepare students for further study or entry-level roles in the industry. 

Course Overview
This course introduces students to the essential values and principles of the health and social care sector. Students will study topics such as human development, the role of health and social care professionals, and how to provide quality care and support to individuals. They will also learn practical skills like communication and promoting good health, making the course both academic and hands-on.

Component 1: Human Lifespan Development (30%) – Internal assessment based on coursework, focusing on understanding how individuals grow and develop throughout their lives. 

Component 2: Health and Social Care Services and Values (30%) – Internal assessment where students explore how care services meet the needs of individuals and the key values that guide health and social care work. 

Component 3: Health and Wellbeing (40%) – External assessment through an exam that tests students on how to assess and improve health and wellbeing.
