Year 9
Year 9 is a really important year for our student’s, as they begin to embark on making their options for the GCSEs. Therefore our career’s programme for Year 9 is about providing individualised support and information around careers, Post-18 and 16 routes, as well as GCSE options. We believe in supporting all of our learners, so will make use of Unifrog alongside our Careers Guidance Advisor to ensure that each student in Year 9 is informed and supported to make informed choices.
Past Events
Wednesday 15th November – All of Year 9 engaged with the PAL Live Session focussed on Construction and Green Careers (West Midlands Combined Authority - Careers Live (careersliveuk.com)). This was an amazing opportunity for all of our Year 9 students to begin learning about the different Post-16 pathways available, as well as understanding not just the difference between Apprenticeships and T-Levels, but also some of the different providers of these courses in our local community. From the feedback of this session, we will be planning in some future bespoke sessions around midwifery, medicine, and careers in the sport’s industries based upon the interests of our Year 9s.
Monday 4th - Friday 8th December – All of Year 9 have completed a short survey in tutor time, helping us to gain further information around their current thoughts in terms of GCSE options, Post-16 study routes, and future careers. This is helping us to build a Key Stage 4 offer that supports our students to be successful.
Friday 8th December - All of Year 9 had a guest assembly from Cadbury College, helping them to further develop and build their knowledge of Apprenticeships, T-Levels and College courses in line with PAL legislation.
Upcoming Events
All of our Year 9 students will be receiving a 1:1 Careers Guidance Meeting with our Careers Guidance Advisor, Mr Matt Franks. This will be a brilliant opportunity for all of our students to receive individual, bespoke support, helping them to consider and think about their futures.
