Year 8
Year 8 is about building on the work done in Year 7, and now getting our students to reflect on their own specific skills. In particular, students will be diving in to understanding what makes a good leader, as well as their own communication skills. Use of Unifrog in Year 8 is focussed around developing specific knowledge and understanding of student’s own areas of skill, as well as introducing the wide-range of Post-16 pathways available.
Past Events
Wednesday 15th November – All of Year 8 engaged with the PAL Live Session focussed on Construction and Green Careers (West Midlands Combined Authority - Careers Live (careersliveuk.com)). This was an amazing opportunity for all of our Year 8 students to begin learning about the different Post-16 pathways available, as well as understanding not just the difference between Apprenticeships and T-Levels, but also some of the different providers of these courses in our local community.
Upcoming Events
All of Year 8 will have a guest assembly from Cadbury College, helping them to further develop and build their knowledge of Apprenticeships, T-Levels and College courses.
A guest assembly, co-ordinated and organised by the Birmingham Careers Hub, where students will interact with a number of different employers and workers from a range of industries. Students will be guessing the job of each individual, with the opportunity to then ask direct questions about the day-to-day realities of each role.
Some of Year 8 will be visiting a local West Midland’s University, to learn more about Post-18 study, what life is like at University, and the wide-range of different courses available. Further to this, others will be visiting a local centre providing apprenticeship and T-Level training, to develop more in-depth knowledge of these routes.
