Celebrating year 8 enrichment

Year 8 groups have come to the end of their extended social actions projects that have been running on Friday afternoons. They began by learning about teamwork and communication skills and the moved on to put these into practice. There have been some massive successes:

  • #WeWillCook have refined a series of recipes and put together a cookbook that will be off to the publishers soon and then be available to buy, with all money going to charity.

  • #WeWillExplore have tested out walks in the local area and are putting together a walking guide which is going to be professional printed and ready to purchase, with all money going to charity too.

  • #WeWillCare not only organised Operation Christmas Child in November, but also a charity bake sale which raised just under £300 for Birmingham Dog's Home.

  • #WeWillSew have produced upcycled garments from community donations of clothing, not only developing their sewing skill but also learning about the global fashion industry and preventing waste.

  • #WeWillRecycle have produced some excellent games from recycled materials to bring reduce/reuse/recycle into our school along with some skilful handicraft and joy!

  • #WeWillLead have been learning coaching skills and worked with year 7s to as sports leaders

  • #WeWillGrow put together a successful funding bid to secure equipment to build our CCSA garden which will be breaking ground in the spring.

For us at CCSA, celebrating truth means not just showing loving kindness with our words, but also through our actions. These enrichment groups have done just that, as have all the others. We celebrated them today by awarding their #WeWill Ambassador badges and hope they enjoy their next round of enrichment activities beginning after half term.

We are grateful for the support of Ormiston Trust and the #iwillFund from the National Lottery Community Fund and Department for Digital Culture, Media and Sport to have brought this work to life.
