European Day of Languages

European Day of Languages is celebrated on 26th September and is a Europe-wide celebration of the languages spoken in Europe. Did you know there are over 200 languages spoken on our continent? In Birmingham alone, 108 languages are spoken! So we decided to celebrate the many languages spoken by our CCSA family.

Pupils were challenged to find out which of their teachers and classmates speak another language, and to learn phrases in language which is new to them. There were greetings in French, German, Spanish, Gujarati, Arabic, British Sign Language and even a football cheer “as Gaeilge”!

Our year 7 and 8 pupils were very engaged in this challenge today, and we have heard a lot of different languages being spoken on our corridors, in our restaurant and out on the yard.

We are looking forward to awarding prizes for their efforts later in the week! Merci tout le monde pour vos efforts!
